Donna Rae Horton, 81, was born Donna Rae Stricklin on May 9, 1944, in Cisco, Texas and was called home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family and friends. Donna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served proudly for 56 years in various roles of leadership and helping others. Those who knew her best can attest to her servant’s heart, quiet strength, kindness, and encouragement to others. She loved Alaska where she grew up and doing anything outdoors. Above all else, Donna will be remembered for being the world’s best grandmother, and for sacrificing her needs for the good of her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester Ray Stricklin and Margie Katherine Stricklin, her oldest daughter, Angela Gwen Gutierrez, and her youngest son, Jared Joseph Horton.
Donna is survived by her three little brothers, Dan Stricklin and wife Bobbie of Carrollton, Texas, John Stricklin and wife Joy of Elberta, Alabama, and David Stricklin and wife Robin of Fort Worth, Texas; in addition to four of her six children: B. Edward Horton of Clinton, Missouri, and wife Jennifer, Steven Ray Horton of Paris, France, Amy Lynn Wunderlich of Arlington, Texas and husband Richard, and Laura Joy Rasor and husband Joel Rasor of Burleson, Texas. Her biggest joy and pride in life were her 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
A visitation is scheduled from 6-8:00 pm on Friday, May 16th at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 17th at this same location. Interment will follow at Aledo-Brown Cemetery, Aledo, Texas.
