Dennis Wynn

August 5, 1948 — April 23, 2016

Dennis passed away on Saturday, April 23rd. He was 67 years young.

He was a man who was loved by family and countless friends alike.

Dennis loved being with his family. They enjoyed trips together, particularly camping in Big Bend National Park, taking a jeep up the mountains in Colorado, and halibut fishing in Alaska. They enjoyed fun cookouts and holiday dinners with his daughters’ families in Oklahoma.

But Dennis’s true heart was with the Lord and doing the Lord’s work in the community that he loves. He and his wife belong to First Baptist Church of Azle, chosen in part because of the church’s commitment to community service, a commitment that Dennis shared. Dennis was handed the reins of the local Promise Keepers group that meets weekly by his beloved friend, the late Jimmy Lynn. Fellowship and service with this group of truly godly men meant the world to Dennis.

Dennis was a mainstay in Azle. He has served with the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce for many years, serving as an Ambassador and member of the Board of Directors. He enjoyed working and serving with many of the business people in Azle. Dennis was voted Azle’s Citizen of the Year in 2013. He was also a founding member of the Azle Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association and appointed to the board of the Crime Control and Prevention District. Dennis had tremendous respect and love for the public servants in Azle and was gratified to serve with them.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Lora Lane, his father Junie Wynn, and his sister, Rozelle Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda; sister Betty Hinesly; brother L.A. Williams and wife Jo Ann; daughters Deanna Butkiewicz and husband, Price; Radeana Rumpl and husband Tony; son Steven Wynn; grandchildren Conner Arnold, Braeden Arnold, Daria Arnold, Aubrey Steward, Ethan Hoffman, Brandon Gunn, Kelson Rackley, Madison Rumpl, Lindsey Willis, and Tristan Rumpl;nieces Terry Guthrie and husband Ken, and Regina Kilgore; nephews Ted and wife Diane, Steve Hinesly and wife Margie; father-in-law Willard Payne, whom he loved as a father; brothers-in-law Billy Payne and Larry Payne; sisters-in-law Karen Arduine and husband Rick; and Gail Payne; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Although Dennis’s passing was unexpected, he was ready to meet Jesus face-to-face. He was very gratified to be able to say goodbye to all of his family and many of his friends that he loved so much. He is loved by so many and will be sorely missed.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14:1-4

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:21

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
