November 3, 1940 — June 23, 2023

Fort Worth

Clydie Jane Bentley Walker died June 23, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with interstitial lung disease. She was 82.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., August 12, 2023, at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 905 S. Church Street, Decatur, Texas, followed by lunch at Villa Grande Ranch, 2025 US HWY 287, Decatur, Texas.

Clydie was born November 3, 1940. She was adopted by Clyde and Grace Bentley. In her childhood years, she lived in Tyler, Texas with her parents and her Granny, Virginia Bradley. Clydie graduated from John Tyler High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. This is where she met her future husband, Thomas Walker. They married and had two daughters. Clydie earned her master's degree in education from the University of North Texas in Denton.

Clydie taught elementary school for 27 years. In different years she taught everything from first through fourth grade. She taught at All Saints Episcopal School, Lake Worth ISD, and Castleberry ISD.

In her later working years, Clydie worked in the testing center at Tarrant County College South Campus.

After retirement, Clydie was able to devote more time to traveling, sewing, gardening, spending time with her three grandchildren (eating out and having fun), and donating her time to her beloved Episcopal Church, where she arranged flowers, made altar hangings, served on the bishop’s committee, and most of all, enjoyed singing at the services.

Clydie was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Clyde Bentley; Granny, Virginia Bradley; and sister, Naomi Madeline Bentley.

Survivors: Daughter, Rebecca Goff and husband, Denny Goff; daughter, Sarah Walker; and grandchildren, Michael Goff, Steven Goff, and Rhianna Goff.
