Byron Hendrix

October 30, 1946 — October 4, 2017

Byron Lee Hendrix, age 70, of Benbrook and Fort Worth, Texas, was born October 30, 1946, and passed from this earthly life into the arms of our Heavenly Father, on October 4, 2017.

Graveside services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 in Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr, Austin, Texas 78731.

Byron was the son of Ruby McDonald and Jack Byron Hendrix (deceased), and the much loved stepson of Edward "Pop" McDonald, who also preceded Byron to Heaven. He graduated from Eastern Hills High School and attended Texas Tech. Byron maintained close friendships with many former classmates.

Byron was the hunter and fisherman in the truest Texan sense. He studied the game and was knowledgeable of many Texas species. He was very proud to hold a Boone and Crockett Club award for white tail deer typical in the 2004-2006 award years. Byron loved hot rods as a young man and rekindled that interest in recent times. He enjoyed ownership of several such cars and took great pride in showing them in the area.

Most importantly in Byron’s life was the loving care he gave his Mother, Ruby McDonald. They shared a home for many years and he tended to her health and daily needs.

Without doubt he was loved by and will be missed by many. Heaven received a good man, and we are all blessed to have been a part of Byron's life.

Byron is predeceased by his father, Jack Byron Hendrix, stepfather, Edward "Pop" McDonald, and stepsister, Marilyn McDonald Brown.

Byron was part of a loving family and is survived by his mother; sister, Carol Yarbrough of Houston; niece, Amy Norris of Houston; nephews, Richard Yax of Spicewood and Marcus Yax of Burnet; stepbrother, Ed Marlen McDonald; stepsister, Jeanette Flowers. Byron was lovingly known as Uncle “B” by nephews, Parker Yax, Ben and Spencer Yax, Dillon Norris, and niece, Addison Norris. Kay and Tom Gill of Granbury were special cousins.
