Bettey Ruth Kelley McGar, 95, of Fort Worth, Texas, left this earth on June 5, 2024, to be with our great Lord above.
Bettey was born June 27, 1928, in Milford, Texas to Oscar Kelley and Etta Kelley. She was known for being a Christian, singing in the choir, and an example of a hard worker.
She met the love of her life, Harley MGar, at the age of 17, and they were married May 1, 1947. They were married 75 years until Harley’s passing in 2022. Starting her new life with Harley she went on to beauty school to become a hair stylist. After graduating Harley built her a beauty salon for her own, as he knew she loved working with hair. They started a family shortly after being married, having a daughter, Linda and a son, Kenneth. She owned her salon for 31 years until she had a stroke and had to retire in 1980.
Bettey also loved shopping and going dancing. She was always dressed and made up to perfection when she stepped out of her house.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley; son, Kenneth; sisters; and brothers.
Survivors: Daughter, Linda Williams; granddaughter, Stayce Tindell and husband, Mat; grandson, Terry McConathy and wife, Laniecea; great-grandson, Zyies McConathy; and many extended cousins and family members.
Bettey had a loving heart and loved her family and friends. She will be deeply missed!
