Benbrook

Ben Bernie Streiff was born February 23, 1938, in Sipe Springs, Texas, Comanche County, to William Bernie Streiff and Cleo Winfrey Streiff. He graduated from Sundown High School and attended Wayland Baptist University and graduated Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.  He and Ruby Copelin were married on August 16, 1963, at Skyline Baptist Church, Lubbock. Ben served in the U.S. Army for two years with an honorable discharge. They were blessed with a daughter, Connie Beth Streiff, and a son, Jason Bernie Streiff.

Ben served as Minister of Education/Music at First Baptist Church, Cisco, Texas and First Baptist Church, Hempstead, Texas. He retired as an inspector with the Texas Highway Department after 20 years. Ben and Ruby celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Upon retirement, Ben loved to go fishing and hunting, especially with his precious grandsons, Austin, and Garrett. He loved family gatherings with Connie, Jason, Heather, and grandsons. Special times were remembered at Christmas and Thanksgiving with nieces, nephews, and their families.

Ben loved to work in the yard, especially on the riding lawn mower! He had special memories of our friends at Birchman Baptist Church where we attended. He was a man of faith and loved his family dearly. He enjoyed music of all kinds, but especially the old hymns, Chet Atkins and he loved to play his guitars. Ben enjoyed reading and studying his Bible every day and worked on home projects and his shop.

He was preceded in death by parents, William Bernie Streiff and Cleo Winfrey Streiff; brother, Charles Streiff; and sister, Sylvia Streiff.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ruby Copelin Streiff; daughter, Connie Beth Streiff of Fort Worth; son, Jason Bernie Streiff and wife, Heather Streiff; grandsons, Austin Bernie Streiff, and Garrett Ford Streiff of Midland; sisters, Linda Abbe, and Barbara Stephens, both of Lubbock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at Birchman Baptist Church, 9100 N. Normandale St, Fort Worth, Texas 76116, or a charity of your choice.
