Obituary

Barbara Patnoude Strasser, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away at her home on July 16, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on March 7, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Justice and Lucille Patnoude.

Barbara shared a remarkable life with her late husband, Jack C. Strasser, whom she married on April 18, 1957. Together, they nurtured a strong and loving relationship over 65 beautiful years. Barbara’s life was graced with love and loss, with her heart forever holding the memory of her daughter, Kimberly Leverenz, who predeceased her.

Throughout her life, Barbara was a woman of many talents and passions. A devoted equestrian and breeder of Thoroughbred racehorses, she made her mark in the racing circuits of Illinois, Louisiana, and Texas. Her love for the horses was only matched by her skill in pastel painting, a craft in which she excelled, earning numerous accolades in Fort Worth and throughout the Southwest.

Beyond her artistic pursuits, Barbara was an active member of the Fort Worth Women’s Club, where her grace and warmth touched the lives of many. Her culinary talents were unparalleled, and she took great joy in preparing gourmet meals for her family and friends, always ensuring they felt cherished and nourished.

Barbara's legacy of love and kindness lives on through her surviving daughter, Karol Arnette, and her treasured grandchildren, Christopher and Bradley Leverenz, and Matthew Arnette. She was the embodiment of a loving wife and mother, offering support, wisdom, and the best of herself to those she held dear.

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on July 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Church, located at 5001 Crestline Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a woman who brought so much beauty and warmth into the world.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Barbara's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause she held close to her heart.

Barbara Patnoude Strasser will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, creativity, and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
