Barbara Peterson

September 19, 1931 — March 3, 2018

Barbara Screnar Peterson, 86, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2018, surrounded by her family and the beloved staff of Sunrise Assisted Living in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Arborlawn United Methodist Church in the chapel, 5001 Briarhaven Road, Fort Worth 76109.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank at Arborlawn United Methodist Church.
Barbara was born in Seattle, Wash. and raised in East Helena, Mont. Barbara graduated Cum Laude from Capitol University and held a Master’s Degree from Drew University. She loved her work as an elementary school teacher and found fulfillment in volunteering, and her life of service as a pastor’s wife. Barbara had great faith in God, was an avid reader and rarely missed her daily walk.
Barbara’s ever-present smile will be remembered by all who knew her; it was infectious and a testament to her kind and loving spirit. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Edward “Ted” Peterson. Ted and Barbara traveled extensively and explored many corners of the world together.
Survivors: Her four daughters and their husbands, Kari and Matt Reed of Weatherford, Kristin and Russell Spencer of Austin, Wendy and Cameron Ware of Fort Worth and Marty and Bob Barnhard of Boston, MA.; her siblings and their spouses, Jane and Linden Davidson of Florida, Terry and Karen Screnar of Montana, and Christy and Rick Bird of Colorado; her 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Reed Freas; Jack Flowers; Jim, Michael and Lindsay Spencer; Austin and Carson Ware; and Sarah, Nick, and Hayley Barhard; two great-grand babies, Peter Freas and June Flowers, and many loving family members and friends.
