Barbara Jean Bolin McHenry was born September 21, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, along with her twin sister Beverly, to Francis and Agnes Bolin. Barbara graduated from Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, in 1960. She worked as a nursing assistant until, at the age of 19, she moved to Whittler, California.

She received her nurses training at Rio Hondo College. Later, she received training to become a psychiatric tech. Coming from her rural background, she took great pride in her nursing training and career.

However, as Important as this was to her, her chief purpose in life from the age at twelve was to serve the Lord. At the age of fourteen, she knew in her heart that she wanted to offer her life in the ministry. Unfortunately, health issues prevented her from following her heart's desire, but she never wavered in her devotion to the Lord. This was obvious to all who were part of the fellowship she loved.

In 1978, she married Gordon Glen McHenry in Whittier, California. They made their home in California until they moved to Keller, Texas, in 1990. She and Gordon enjoyed many years there, especially the times they had the opportunity to Interpret during Spanish gospel meetings.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Gordon McHenry in 2008, her mother, father, sister Fern Koestner, and brother Ferris Bolin. She is survived by sisters Becky Bauman, Beverly Nelson, Bonnie Johnson, and Lisa Kircher, brother David Bolin, and a multitude of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge the help of her many friends who made it possible for her to remain in her home in Keller until her move to Brookdale Assisted Living in Georgetown in October 2025. The family is also deeply indebted to the staff at Brookdale, who cared not only for her but also her cat Joey with extraordinary love and tenderness. Equally caring were the staff of Suncrest Hospice as well as the sitters with Care Renewed, all of whom helped her navigate her final days.
