Tony was born on September 10, 1931, in Nowland, Arkansas to Drew and Lois Cummings. Tony was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. After graduating from Prescott High School in Arkansas he attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University. He went on to graduate with a master’s from Louisiana State University in Animal Nutrition.
While working for a company in Magnolia, Mississippi, just out of college testing dairy cows, he met the love of his life, Gloria Dene Toney. After marrying, Tony got a job opportunity with Kraft foods, which moved he and Gloria to Texas where their two sons, Stuart and Jeff, were born.
In the early ‘60’s the Cummings family moved from San Antonio to For Worth, Texas, where they made their home and joined First United Methodist Church. Tony and Gloria both taught and were active in Sunday School. Tony always felt it was a privilege finding guest speakers for his Sunday School class. Tony and Gloria were great supporters of the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, Texas. It was something they had begun years ago together, and he continued.
In the late ‘60’s Tony began his own animal nutrition business, Profit Liquid Feed. It was one of the first liquid feeds for cattle in the state of Texas. He was lucky enough to be able to work at something he loved doing until he retired.
To Tony, family was everything! His wife, children, and daughters-in-law were very special. But nothing was more special than his grandchildren. He loved going to games and recitals, listening to them read, hearing about their day, or hearing their thoughts on politics. All that mattered was he was with them and they were with him.
He will be deeply missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Goria.
He is survived by his son, Stuart Cummings and his wife Nancy and their son Lee of Euless, Texas; his son Jeff Cummings his wife Elizabeth and their son Jackson and daughters, Ella, and Zoe of Dallas, Texas; as well as generations of wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friends.
